The Latest In The Casey Anthony Case: April 2/2009
Casey Anthony’s defense attorney, Jose Baez, filed a motion on Monday for an ex-pate hearing (private meeting with the judge) to prevent the public or prosecutors from knowing what the defense strategies for Casey Anthony will be. On Wednesday, Judge Strickland denied the request.
It is reported that George, Cindy, and Lee Anthony would like to have a private visit with Casey Anthony in jail. So far a spokesman from corrections says that no requests for a private visit have been made and that Casey will not receive any special treatment. Much speculation arises from this as it is believed that the family wants this time together, unrecorded, to get their stories straight.
Dennis Moonsammy, who is the Jail Sergeant where Casey Anthony is in prison, was deposed on Monday by Jose Baez. It is alleged that Moonsammy saw Casey’s reaction to the news that the remains of a child were found. He says that he did not see her reaction.
Casey Anthony’s long time friend, KioMarie Cruz, was deposed on Wednesday by Jose Baez. Baez said that he is getting closer to the truth. It is speculated that Cruz has sold her story to the National Enquirer for as much as $20,000.
Jose Baez is also set to depose Casey Anthony’s friend, Amy Huizenga, along with corrections officers and a number of detectives. More depositions are set for today.
