Twitter Gets Hacked!
Twitter announced yesterday that thirty-three Twitter accounts had been hacked. Among some of the accounts were Barack Obama’s, Fox News, Britney Spears, and CNN’s Rick Sanchez.
Hackers accessed the accounts by using tools provided by Twitter to allow people to edit their e-mail addresses. Twitter immediately shut the affected accounts down and will not provide these tools again until the site is more secure.
Here are some of the messages hackers left of the following accounts:
Rick Sanchez – I am high on crack right now might not be coming to work today.
Fox News - Breaking: Bill O Riley is gay,” (Bill O Riley is a talk show host for the network).
Barack Obama – Gave users a link to get a five hundred dollar gas card.
Facebook – getlaid.net link linking to a XXX site.
Twitter says it was able to act quickly to the hack and is fixing the problems. At this point it is not known who is responsible for the incident.
