Teen Charged In High School Shooting Plot
15 year old Richard Yanis of Pennsylvania is now charged as an adult for planning to kill fellow classmates. He had then planned to kill himself after the shooting spree, a prosecutor from Pennsylvania said on Tuesday.
The shooting spree was to take place at Pottstown High School in Montgomery County. It is reported that Yanis had stolen three handguns from his father to use in the spree. Yanis is charged with attempted murder as an adult because juvenile law there excludes any deadly weapons charges.
The plot began unfolding when the father called police about the missing guns. Yanis had given the guns to a friend to hold on to. The friend showed the guns to his stepmom, and also told a teacher at the high school about what was happening. The shootings were to take place after the New Year.
Pottstown Senior High School describes Yanis as quiet, introverted, and without discipline or aggressive behavioural problems.
