New York Giants Star Shoots Himself In Leg
Plaxico Burress, wide receiver for the New York Giants, tuned himself into police earlier this morning. It is likely he will be charged after accidentally shooting himself in the right leg at a Manhattan nightclub on Friday night. He was later released from hospital on Saturday.
His lawyer says Burress plans to plead not guilty. If Burress is convicted, the charge could result in three and a half years in prison.
The NFL would not comment on the incident, but an NFL spokesman did say that they were cooperating closely with the NYPD. Giants CEO John Mara avoided questions regarding Burress’ future with the team. Burress is currently under a thirty five million dollar contract over five years.
